This is a wonderful class for the absolute beginner or any level of practitioner looking to reconnect with the foundations of breathing, alignment and intention in their practice. Each week will examine pranayama or breathing exercises paired with different types of poses from diverse systems of practice to help prepare you for multi-level classes. Time is spent on describing and explaining alignment principles, ways to modify your practice for physical conditions or limitations, the benefits of various techniques, anatomical awareness and the basic philosophy of different yoga lineages. Some students take this class to learn proper alignment so they can enjoy other classes more easily and safely. Some students return to this class week after week because the fundamentals of yoga are so deep and engaging!
