Your Scottish Highlands Retreat Details

Restore your sense of awe when you step off the beaten path this Summer!

Journey to the enchanting Scottish Highlands for a week in the wild, untamed landscapes of this magical country. Designed for an intimate group on a truly vast private wilderness estate, this tailored retreat will reconnect you with your own inner energy landscape - inspiring you to understand and practice to restore your own wild life force. Spend some of the longest days of the year in a spectacular setting, soaking in the extended daylight hours and using the energy of this time to regenerate your internal landscape through your connection to the natural beauty around you. Awe, wonder, gratitude and curiosity are considered to be ingredients essential for well-being and growth. We will explore all of them in our practices! There will be twice daily yoga and meditation, ranger-guided hikes for various levels, an otherworldly remote setting, and great conversations fireside. Nourish yourself each day with artfully prepared meals from our private chefs. Settle in to the quiet peace of this extraordinary place and marvel at the beauty around every bend. From pristine rivers and picturesque glens to majestic red deer and colorful hillsides - Alladale will take your breath away (and the yoga will put it back!).

Alladale Wilderness Reserve is a privately owned 23,000 acre estate powered by its very own hydro-electric system. Its ongoing mission is “rewilding” - a process of reintroducing original plant and wildlife species - and its commitments to sustainability and ecosystem regeneration are singular. It has recently added a self-sustaining hydroponic garden, trout farm, bee hives and fruit trees acclimated to the Highlands to provide food year round. A stand-alone yoga structure for our classes overlooking the beautiful gardens and nestled near the main lodge will round out the property buildings. Along with its conservation work it supports scientific research, produces organic cosmetics, conducts education programs, and donates 7% of bookings to the European Nature Trust. Alladale was featured by Travel+Leisure Magazine as one of the top destinations for 2018 and voted Europe's Most Eco-Friendly Boutique Hotel in 2019.

FAQS

Where do I fly into?

Please book your flights in and out of Inverness Airport - the gateway into the Scottish Highlands. Please note that you cannot check in before 3pm. Alladale is approximately a 90 minute drive from Inverness airport. If your flight arrives earlier in the day you can have lunch in Inverness and then get a pick up at the central Inverness train station to Alladale for a 3pm arrival. You can also rent a car if you would like to explore further afield in the Highlands!

I have dietary restrictions. Can the chef prepare food for me?

Please fill out your specific dietary restrictions in your registration application. Our chef, Natasha, will prepare meals based on your responses so you can enjoy all the meals and relax.

What can I expect on the hikes?

The group will be divided into two levels so that all abilities are cared for by the incredible rangers of Alladale. The hikes are trail free and through rugged terrain. On the flatter and easier hikes for all levels, please expect that there could be watery boggy ground, uneven terrain and vegetation to hike through. For the steeper climbs, please note that there are rocky, steeper surfaces and sweeping vistas. If you have physical limitations and/or vertigo related to heights, please advise us or reach out before booking the retreat.

What is the weather like? How do I pack for this trip?

In my experience, anything goes in Scotland during the summer! We could get days of sunshine or clouds. It might rain suddenly or non-stop. Alladale is prepared with some basic gear to help us - namely hiking poles, Wellington boots and a few extra jackets. It is essential to pack for multiple temperature ranges and wet weather. A solid pair of waterproof hiking boots, waterproof pants and a waterproof jacket are essential for this trip..

What level of yoga experience is best for this trip?

All levels of yoga experience are welcome! Even if you have never done yoga, this is a great trip for you. The twice-daily yoga sessions are tailored to the group and to the hiking/outdoors experience.
