Yes! Absolutely! And check your passport now to make sure it is valid for all the dates of the trip. Don't forget to pack it when you leave for the airport.
As noted above, please book your flights in and out of Cancun International Airport (CUN). :)
Allison and the on-site concierge will assist the group with booking transfers to and from the property/airport on arrival and departure day. Depending on whether you get a group transfer or a private transfer, expect the 30 minute ride from the airport to cost between $15 and $70.
In February, Cancun is in the low 80s with some passing tropical rain showers. Check the weather for Cancun the week before the retreat as it tends to change rapidly this time of year! Plan for warm weather and the possibility of a rain shower.
Our retreat is comfortable and low key. Bring easy to wear yoga clothing for warm temperatures, casual clothing for meal time, a swimsuit, some sandals and a light cover up for evening when the temps get a bit cooler. Bring plenty of suncreen, bug spray, a sun hat and whatever medications you normally take.
Alcoholic beverages are not included in your retreat. If you would like any alcohol you can purchase it on the way from the airport to the property or you can order it through the chef staff for a small additional delivery fee.
Villa Sol y Luna provides purified drinking water in every part of the house for guest use. Bring a reusable water bottle and drink the purified water provided. You can also use this water for brushing your teeth. All meals prepared by our private chef team adhere to the strictest standards of cleanliness. All produce is washed and prepared in purified water. All ice is made using purified water.
Villa Sol y Luna uses a water reclamation and septic system on site, so please place all toilet paper in the waste baskets provided in the bathrooms to keep the plumbing happy. Towels for the pool and private beach chairs are provided, as are linens for the bathrooms and bedrooms. There is a large kitchen used by the chef staff and a small kitchen in the game room if you need to store anything in the fridge. Staff is on site 24 hours a day in case help is needed, a motion activated security system monitors the beachside of the house at night and all rooms have safe lock boxes.
There is a lot of wildlife nearby Villa Sol y Luna as the property is located within an ecological reserve. Immediately adjacent to the villa is a wetland that is home to all sorts of wonderful creatures - crocodiles included! They do not leave their wetland home, but are visible over the wall that divides the villa from the wetland. If you enjoy watching and hearing birds, you will also be regaled with plenty of company of the flying variety during our stay.
WiFi is available throughout the villa but it may be slower than you are used to at home. Please refrain from streaming video or music over the Wifi. Call your mobile provider to check on cell phone coverage in Cancun for your carrier and also to ask about the cost of an international plan for the duration of your trip.
We have the most wonderful and talented chef staff to make all of our meals. When you register be sure to fill out your dietary needs on the application so that the chef can make food tailored to your restrictions.
It is possible to use US dollars in Cancun as long as they are smaller bills for things like ground transportation and tipping. Pesos are used for shops, excursion expenses and the like, and can be taken out of ATMs at the Cancun airport.
